Cottonwood is a soft, lightweight hardwood with a pale, fairly plain look. It's easy to cut and takes paint well, and it's a practical choice for drawer sides, crates, utility shelving, painted projects and carving. Use sharp tools, since it can leave a fuzzy surface. We carry it in 4/4, sold by the board foot.
