Lumber and mouldings for St. Louis city homes Matched to the trim you already have.
Tall baseboards, wide casings and crowns in profiles nobody stocks anymore. Bring us a piece and our mill will run it in the species you need, with the hardwood lumber and plywood for the rest of the job.
Bring a sample
A short offcut is best, cut clean across the end. If you can't remove a piece, send a clear photo straight at the end with a ruler in the shot.
We find or make the knife
We compare it with our knife library at the mill. If nothing matches, we can grind a new knife for your profile.
You get a quote
For the knife (if needed), the species and the footage. We reply within 1–2 business days.
We run it at the mill
Your moulding is milled in Bowling Green and comes to our St. Peters store for pick-up.
Everything else the restoration needs
Matching trim is usually one part of a bigger job. From the same counter:
- Hardwood lumber for window stools, jambs, thresholds and replacement parts, including quarter sawn white and red oak for Arts and Crafts-era houses.
- Hardwood mouldings in stock profiles, when the house has been updated before and a standard profile will do.
- Hardwood plywood for built-ins and kitchen cabinets that sit next to original woodwork.
- Mantels for a fireplace that lost its original, or a custom one built to the room.
- Stair parts for balusters, treads and handrails.
In a historic district?
Parts of the city are local historic districts, where exterior changes can need review by the city's Cultural Resources Office. Check with them before you start, and bring us their requirements with your sample. Matching the original profile in wood is often the simplest way to meet them.

Questions from St. Louis city homeowners
Can you match old molding from a St. Louis house?
Usually, yes. Bring a short piece of the original, or a clear end-on photo with a ruler. We compare it with our knife profiles at the mill, and if none matches we can grind a new knife and run the profile in the species you need. Start with the custom mouldings request.
What if I can't take a piece off the wall?
Send a photo taken straight at the end of the moulding, with a ruler in the shot, plus the overall height and thickness. A profile gauge tracing also helps. If the photo isn't enough, we'll tell you what else we need.
Is St. Charles Hardwoods in St. Louis?
Our store is in St. Peters, in St. Charles County, about 45 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Saint Charles Hardwoods is our full name. Our mill is in Bowling Green, Missouri.
Got a piece of the old trim?
Send us a photo and we'll tell you what it takes.
Custom mouldings and stocked lumber can go on the same quote. We reply within 1–2 business days.
