Mesquite

Mesquite is a dense hardwood from the American Southwest with a rich reddish-brown color and a lively figure, often with small knots and checks that add character. It's very stable once dry, and is used for furniture, tabletops, boxes, turning and decorative pieces. We carry it in 4/4, sold by the board foot.
