Poplar

Paint grade

Regularly Stocked

Poplar is the go-to wood for paint-grade work: a light, even-textured hardwood that's easy to machine, stays stable and takes paint smoothly. Its creamy color often carries green or purple streaks, which is why it's usually painted. It's used for trim, mouldings, cabinet face frames, drawer parts and painted furniture. We carry it in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4, in select and better (S&B), shorts and wide stock, sold by the board foot, plus thin 1/4" and 1/2" stock sold by the square foot.
