Red Oak

Red oak is the classic American hardwood for cabinets, furniture, trim and stair parts: strong and hard-wearing, light tan to pinkish brown, with a bold, open grain that takes stain well. Quarter sawn boards show a straighter grain with ray fleck. We carry it in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4, in FAS, select and better (S&B), shorts, wide stock and quarter sawn, sold by the board foot, plus thin 1/4" and 1/2" stock sold by the square foot.
